Upgradeable and Extendable In-Room Media Centers

Reading – 14 May 2009: CompleteTV, a UK company developing innovative set top technology for new generation Over-the-Top IPTV services, has launched a new range of IPTV products specifically designed for the hotels of the future.

The IRMC enables the integration of internet access, video-on-demand content delivery, web-based applications and new converged applications such as internet telephony and video conferencing. It is designed to enable low cost hardware maintenance and includes automated management services to minimise site or room visits for maintenance operations. The IRMC evens sends a message to the control centre when the batteries in the remote control need replacing.

Philip Smith, CMO of CompleteTV, said “When we set out to create a new generation hotel room media center, we decided to create a device that could respond to the changing needs of this market. Hotels need to adapt and constantly offer new services to stay ahead of the competition. The IRMC enables them to do this without replacing the in-room equipment. New services can even be downloaded and enabled on a room-by-room basis enabling differentiated services for their guests”

The IRMC supports high definition TV, is able to act as a central room controller for the TV and other devices, has wireless networking support, has USB interfaces for extending its features and is approved for use around the world.

The IRMC starts shipping in June 2009.
